Presenation will dive into the latest advances and trends in the salvaged timber sector. The focus here is specifically on the potentials and challenges of reusing salvaged timber in structural products and applications. The research and development projects related to this topic at Aalto University will be also presented.
Mohammad is a postdoctoral researcher in timber engineering at Group for Wooden Structures, Department of Civil Engineering, Aalto University, Finland. His current research activities focus on the carbon storage extension of timber and engineered wood products in building applications. This includes a) developing new structural timber elements and connection systems that would allow for easy deconstruction at the end of building’s life and b) developing methods using which the resulting salvaged timber materials could be reused effectively in new products and applications.
The second international Drivers for Wood Construction event will be held in Joensuu 15.-16.5.2023 with the theme Holistic Approach Towards Sustainable Wood Construction.
Drivers of Wood Construction 2023 event organized by the Karelia University of Applied Sciences
